Looks like this topic has been discussed a little here and there on forums, but I am still looking for a few answers.

I found out the hard way that I cannot simply replace the stock bridge on our 2008 MIA Tele with a classic Fender Tele bridge. The 2008 bridge is slightly larger and it's holes (especially the string holes) have moved significantly. So I've been looking at the 3 aftermarket choices mostly discussed: Joe Bardan, Callahan and Glendale. The Callahan doesn't appear to offer anything resembling the vintage bridge plate, so they're out. The other two both look good, with Joe Bardan being very affordable, at around $40+. But no one has mentioned if anyone makes a cover plate that will fit any of these bridges, or if a classic Fender cover plate will fit any of these. I would appreciate any information and input on this, specifically dealing with the cover plate, and I'd love to see what others have done.

Thanks.

What did yo call "classic" tele bridge , the 3 saddles bridge ?

Looking for a "drop in" bridge mod on other than American made Fender is not easy .

Did you look a Stew Mac ?

Sorry, yes, the 3 saddle bridge. I looked around stewmac.com a bit but nothing for the American Standard Teles. :| Thanks for the link, BTW. I'd go ahead and get a Bardan or Glendale if I knew there was a cover out there that will work with either of them. Anyone with an answer on this?

Yep, American Standard. I understand the American Special can use the Fender vintage 3 saddle bridge, as well as the MIMs etc. but not the standard or the Deluxe! I sure wish Fender would come up with something.

Why the 3 saddles ? Intonation is easier with 6 saddles bridge

It should be easy to find and fit a bridge for a American Standard IMO . It is the "standard" Fender guitar wich every after market company make parts.

I may be wrong .

Just love classic look… The stock 2008 bridge is fine, and there's still a bit of twang, but the cover doesn't fit the 2008 bridge.

Got a message from Dale at Glendale Guitars about Fender bridge covers fitting onto his bridges:

Quote:
Steve,
The covers do not work on any of my bridge-plates and I do not make a cover. The double-cut is the only bridge-plate I make for the American Standard Tele.
Thanks, Dale

I'm a little surprised he doesn't offer a bridge cover. Too bad. I am interested in his bridges and saddles the more I read about them, but I want the option to add the bridge cover.

Well I replaced the bridge with a modified Fender 3 saddle bridge. It went better than expected and sounds and looks great! Cover works too! I'll post a pic this weekend.

Cool. That's right, not until the late 50's.
