I think it's c1973-4.
Serial #524685 (neck plate)
Original hang tag says "Inspected Week 503-4"
Blonde (faded) body
Humbucker/single pick up.
Barely touched for the last 30 years, so good condition.
Original manual - stating "Telecaster Custom".
Contour hard case not rectangular - may not be original to guitar though it was sold new with this case (to me).
I can get better pics if it would help.

Just curious where the best place online is to get it evaluated.
Cheers!

It is really only worth what someone is willing to pay. Off the cuff I would say it is worth in the $4,000 neighborhood (more if it was a factory custom color or finish) but it would help to find an original style case. Of course this assumes it is complete and original and works properly. What you can do is look on websites for brokers, eBay, reverb etc and see what other teles of that year/model are currently going for. And not only "asking" prices but what they are actually selling for. Appraisals usually value it higher but why then do the appraisers never offer to buy it at the price? Again it all comes down to what someone is willing to pay. I will add having the original hang tag and manual like you do is a big plus to most collectors so that might give yours an edge.

According to the Fender guitar dater that SN puts it at a 74 but other factors like the date codes on the pots and numbers on the neck heel can help confirm if the plate belongs to the guitar. If you wish more info here you will need to remove the neck and get us clear pics of the numbers so we can decipher them, also pics of the neck pocket and pots (clear where we can see any numbers/markings) can allow some of us here to confirm the date and originality.

$4k... ??

NO WAY !!

Just because it's Old... ??

If you got half that... I'd say the Buyer was either a Total Ignoramus, Drunk or High...

You'd be well-served to accept an $1800 Bid !

cheers!

My 2014 Vintage Guitar price guide places the value of these guitars at -

'73: $2,700 - $3,400
'74: $2,500 - $3,200

These reflect guitars in excellent condition. I've noticed that these guitars are very trendy with musicians in more current bands.

Talking with a dealer, I'm hearing that Japanese collectors are buying a lot of vintage guitars.

OK... no accounting for Trends.

And, if there's Demand Pressure from collectors, that would explain the price guide numbers.

cheers!

Appreciate all the comments.
It's a one owner guitar so definitely the original neck plate. Hopefully I find a collector!

Find me an original 74 deluxe in good shape with the hang tag for $1800... I will take a dozen.

about $4000-4500 in my neck of the woods.

Guitar buyers guide only is relevant in the country (or market) they cater for. But ultimately, it is worth what someone pays for it.

Maybe I should come to the USA and buy some old guitars- Id be able to flip them for good profit here :)
