I have had a '72 Thinline Telecaster for about 4 years. It has a great tone, and I really do love the guitar. Only thing.......is that... it's a little harder to play than my strats. My Strats have a "C" neck......and the '72 Thinline has a different shaped neck, that for me, makes it harder to play.

I took it to a guitar tech for a complete setup, telling him about how I would like for the guitar to be easier to play. He did some tweaking and did make it easier to play, however my strats still feel the best to me. I don't think it's anything wrong with the guitar, it's just a different type guitar with a different feel.

The vintage frets (lower) might feel a little different to you too, if you've never played with vintage frets.

I see this guitar at different Guitar Centers all the time. If you have one near you, you should try to find one, and check it out.
