It's all personal preference.i have recently developed a strange attraction to the tele and I'm thinking about adding one to the collection...

It is not the niciest color with this pickgard for a Stat . But it is subjective

I agree...colors can make a difference...I've always had a sweet spot for classic sunburst strats but don't really like sunburst teles..I also like red teles but I have never liked the look of red strats..lol...

To me, the Strat looks like the ideal classic hard rock guitar. Definitely a beauty. But I have fallen in love with the Telecaster. It's shape is like none other, and it's voice is very unique. So in the end, I agree with the title of this thread. :D

Each guitar appears to have won an identification with a specific musical genre. One doesn't generally think 'country' music without thinking Tele. Agreed that Strat-style guitars are pretty much linked with rock but there are some well established exceptions of which we are all aware.

Not necessarily.

The Telecaster is suitable for many kinds of music, including blues and rock.

I grew up outside the US. When I thought Tele, country wasn't even on the radar. I thought this:

That makes sense considering your influences. Stateside, it's been the guitar I've seen associated with that genre. Even looking back at Jimmy Burton with Rick Nelson in the '50's, whose music style was very country flavored, there's the Tele.

My comment does not suggest otherwise. It simply states an observation with respect to country music.

That only holds true in the US. They've sold Teles all over the world, and that traditional country thing hasn't really figured much anywhere else. Until recently, but that's more the country pop thing.
