I really do think they are the better looking of the two. I've never been in love with the look of the strat, although I understand and respect opinions that a strat's the best model as far as looks go.

Here are my tele and strat with my Fender twin reverb.

It is all subjective...like which is better....coke or pepsi? And then you always have the joker who says "sprite". Personally I love the look of both but for different reasons. I am partial to the Strat headstocks however. Which is why on my keeper Teles I use strat or tele deluxe necks.

But here nor there you have 2 beautiful Fender guitars and a kickass Fender amp. Maybe if the strat you have was clear natural finish or blonde over ash like your tele with a black pickguard it would level the playing field. Or maybe not. All subjective...

It certainly is. That is why they offer all different finishes and PG colors as well as body styles. It is amazing how some will love something another hates and vice versa. You should see my parents fight when they are buying a new car and can't agree on a color. Unlike me who just looks for the best deal and could not care less about the color. My take is, purpose of car..to drive...purpose of guitar....to play....purpose of money...to save and make.

Also to note when I am building guitars to resell I know what I like but also have to consider what others like so it sells better. However I have come to realize it does not matter what I do...half will love it, half will hate it or like the other better. "You just can't please everyone so you have to please yourself."

Maybe it is because the very poor photo quality . This Strat may look better in real and poor contrast in photo do not help to like this color

It was just a generic pic I found on google to compare it with the tele posted. Either you like that combo or not. Me personally would like it better with a mint or parchment guard but to each his/her own. Also that particular Strat does not have the best grain for an ash regardless of lighting...I have seen and owned better.

The look is subjective, just as is the feel.
You're going to like one more than the other more.
I'll bet that Roy Buchanan used to wonder why Eric Clapton was wasting his time on a Strat... Quack Quack!!

And..when talking about a musical instrument...well what is as important as sound? And do we need to mention how subjective that can be?

Yep, it's all subjective. Beauty in the beholder's eye. To my eye, while certainly nice and not ugly by any standard, I think the strat is plain by comparison to other classic guitar models and brands. I kinda hide it and let the others be showcased in my studio. lol

Go back and forth on Strats and Teles. I love them both for different reasons. The Tele will not let you BS anything. If you play badly, the Tele will tell on you.

The Strat has more color. If you were to compare Strats and Teles, Strats are sports cars and Teles are hotrods.

I play Strats for the most part, but I always seem to pick up my Tele at some point.

A tele is like a strat that had a horn and part of the headstock clipped off.

But I understand how a Strat can be considered somewhat "boring" to some by the eye being that shape and style is so popular and common. The teles just have a more "vintage" look. I think the Strat is the most "sexy" look hence why so popular but I can usually find beauty in almost any guitar. But there is always the case where one is more objectively ugly, but then some might love it and consider the ugliness as "unique".

+1 I played an Esquire as my number one for over 5 years, and I had to work to make it talk. But something about a Strat tugs at me too! Yep, Lightning one of each is the way to go!

Bullsh*t !!

I own 2 Stratocasters and 3 Telecasters.

Each is distinct... and each fills a niche the others don't.

More guitars is NEVER a Bad Thing !!

cheers!

I believe there actually is a such thing as too many guitars.
When you have several guitars that are virtually identical except for the colour for example; I personally would consider that too many.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
