Some of them will get parted out as the parts are so expensive and rare that they end up getting quite a bit more for the guitar that way. However that to me is a sin. It is okay to do on a later model that is not so rare but to do it to a vintage just to profit...I don't know it just does not sit right with me. I love money but I guess my love for original vintage Fenders goes deeper. Since I can't really afford an original (unless it is one of those "barn" finds) I resort to building my own replicas. Considering what Fender gets for their replicas I am limited to what I want vs what I can realistically afford. Plus I make money selling them.

However the upside to those that get parted out is it gives a chance for the owner of an original to get a legit replacement part if needed, such as the switch tip knob you need for yours. If you can even find a correct original one I have a feeling it won't be cheap.

So all of this begs the question....
What did you pay for this guitar at the garage sale without the case, where has this guitar been for the last 50 years, and where was the garage sale?

Never saw a garage sale with price more than $100 or over $200.

I know. There are those one in a million where the owner simply did not know what it is worth and because it looks beat up does not realize it is still valuable. That is how I got a 69 SG for practically nothing. I am also curious what was paid and why the poster is reluctant to tell us.

The point was we would be envious of the killer deal whether it was found in the street or on ebay. The "assumption" is as a garage sale find is that it was a killer deal, but we don't know without the price posted. The chances of a genuine original 63 tele online for a garage sale price would me extremely rare these days. However these kinds of things happen more in garage sales and barn finds these days then online. I think the main thing we are interested in is did he pay a few hundred or less, or a few thousand.

Sometimes there are free lunches. I score them all the time. But....not quite original 63 Teles. You don't usually find 6-8,000 dollar items at a garage sale.
