I have recently become a fan of Fender guitars. Last week i found this 1963 Fender Telecaster ( not a relic ) at a garage sale. completely original untouched. i still left the dirt on it. Put on a new set of strings and bought a small amp and wow, this guitar plays nice. Im not even really a guitar player, i just mess around a little. Just wanted to show off this cool find and give a little credit to Fender for making an awesome guitar.

Case is a new tweed fender case i bought to keep it protected.

10K is mint or close to . When the buyer will see it he will drop his offer .

10K without seeing , he is not serious or he have too much money.

I wish you to sell it this price

A True Score! Would be great if that Tele could talk, it appears to have seen its share of bar room gigs! Enjoy your find.

That guitar in original condition like that is easily worth 10k. Heck the custom shop masterbuilt relic replica of those goes for almost 6 grand. If you can find a vintage correct hat knob for the switch and a case it seems it would be 100% complete.

I think you're being a little optimistic on that one.

Of all the '63 Telecasters currently on the Market, the most expensive standard one is $8600 and that one is truly MINT.

Based on what's out there right now, for a 'Player' like this one, I think $5500-$6500 is more accurate.

If it were me, I'd learn to play, then play the heck out of it... just as Leo intended.

cheers!

T2stratman, i know exactly what you mean. if it could only talk, especially since the guy who owned lived in Greenwich village new york during the 1960s 1970s. definitely seemed to be an artist and hang out with other musicians there. the guitar strap that cam on it looks totally 1960s hippie :)

i think $5500-6500 would be way to low for this guitar. you can barely by a brand new relic for that price :)

List price on a master built custom shop 61 tele heavy relic is $4k, before you start bartering. And that was just on the first website I checked. A team built custom shop relic will be cheaper still.

of course im not here to argue, just wanted to show everyone this cool guitar, but yes a 100 % original 1963 fender telecaster is worth more than a brand new 1963 telecaster relic. i can buy a relic any day of the week ... ive searched for a 1963 original and they are not easy to come by at all :)

Odd, first ones I found seem to disagree.... (granted you say "61" and this is a "63")

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ ... ric-guitar

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Cust ... 1557268.gc

Now as far as arguing over what an ALL ORIGINAL 63 tele is worth...find one first and post the ad...

Heck even a neck for a 63 is going to ask over $5,000..just research it.

So go ahead, anyone. Find me a single ALL ORIGINAL 63 tele for under $10,000. I will wait here

Yes it seems the 63's are rare/desirable and not many were made. I was able to find a couple that "claimed" to be original or close to it in the $7,500 to $8,600 range but they were not reliable websites and no way to verify anything. As well they were older ads and we were in a deep recession then making it more of a buyers market. As that turns around vintage instruments will certainly go up. The only thing I found currently for sale was a 63 neck asking $5,250....as well all parts for it are insane...like 600+ for a bridge, over 400 just for a neck plate....insane I tell you. You are at over 6 grand before even having the body and electronics and other assorted hardware. Heck I would not be surprised if they get over $100 just for the strap buttons.

But as others suggested unless you are in it for a quick buck, if you don't need the money just play and enjoy it. You are one of the fortunate ones to own such a rare and valued ax that will certainly increase in value over time. Heck the 50s ones are getting hard to touch for under 20 grand these days.
