Chrome - what type of humbucker did you put in yours? I was thinking about two Lollar single coils, the special T in the neck and J street for the bridge. I do mostly alt-rock, some slightly heavier stuff in the vein of Chevelle / disturbed / coheed and cambria. I'm looking for maximum flexibility from the guitar, trying to cut down on the amount of stuff I have to carry to gigs. :)

I never owned and tried a Power Tele. Pictured guitar is not mine.

The idea for a splittable neck humbucker with the bridge single coil and the piezos is purely a subject of reference. This pickup config makes for an extremely versatile guitar.

Gotcha, chrome. The idea of a splittable humbucker in the neck is quite interesting, I'd have dual singles when I wanted that and the bucker when I want more output...then the piezos, which sound surprisingly good, particularly through my Venue DI. Mmm, research to do.

Do you have any recommendations for splittable humbuckers at all, just so I can check out some sound samples and such? By the way, that was a nice looking power Tele you posted the photos of...mines the ash with tortoise, I think it's kinda classy yet kinda Bruce Springsteen. Both good things IMO.

The US Fat Tele does have a splittable neck humbucker with chrome covers. Single-coil neck tonality can be achieved by cutting the front coil from the humbucker in position 4 on the 5-way super switch.
