Hi Guys I'm new here. So a big hello from Sydney Australia!

Anyway I have a JD Tele (love the thick neck) purchased in about 97 and it's a Japan made one. Anyway I never really liked the pickups so I'm thinking of changing them out. I love my classic rock ac/dc, zep, gunners (you know the stuff)

Anyway my fave pickup is the Jazz SH-2n Jazz Model humbucker in the neck on all my guitars but obviously this isn't an option :? and a have many faves for the bridge.

So what do you guys think of this combo for single coils.

Little 59 in the bridge
Dimarzio Area 58 in neck

Would love to know your thoughts and thanks EVERYONE!

I'd really like a Jazz sounding pickup in the neck (creamy)

Hi Mate,

I have a Lil Screamin Demon in the bridge of my Parts-o-caster Strat. Swapped it out from a American Standard pickup (from 2010). The point of this is to give you an idea that I went from a single coil rear position fender standard pickup to a 59ish single coil sized humbucker from dimarzio.

Its good, my particular pickup is designed to have an Airy "Glassy" sound. Basically a drop in Upper Mids so you get the bass and the treble come through all shiny. So you don't want this pickup. To get that Rocky Angus ACDC / Izzy Gunners and Zep sounds you need those mids in there to drive the front end of your amp. lil 59 will be a good choice in the bridge, also check out the hotrails or dimarzios super distortion T or Chopper T. Super Distortion is probably a little too much output for a classic rock tone but that Chopper T sound is awesome (Check out anything Richie Kotzen has done for the last 10 years in regards to how good the chopper T is). Because you're going for a 59 humbucker sound in a smaller pickup size you might have to get a hotter pickup than you expect because the smaller size means a SLIGHT drop in output.

As for the neck, I'll agree with you here that the 58 is a good choice, you'll find you might need to back the volume down a touch and then roll the tone knob back to about half, maybe back it off a 1/3. This should take the tops and attack off the pickup, allowing for a smoother jazzier sound. But get that pickup anyway because it is kick arse and you can get some killer blues tones out of it when you aint feeling rocky or jazzy :)
