Folks,

After many years of wanting one, I just bought my first Tele (used) and I'm trying to fully identify it. From the serial number on the neck (N500834), it appears to be a 1995/96 model. My best guess is that this is a American Standard Telecaster. Do the pictures below support my hypothesis?

The guitar itself is in pristine condition and the luthier who did the setup is truly a wizard. This Tele plays better than any I've ever owned...and then there's the tone, sweetness incarnate! :D

Thanks in advance,

Pangloss

I think there is an issue with posting photos from the Drop Box service; they don't show up so I wound up pasting the URLs into another window to see them.

Yes, you are correct, that is a circa 1995 American Standard Tele in black in very pristine shape.

You could contact Fender (at consumerrelations@fender.com) and they should be able to tell you when during 1995/early 1996 it was completed.

John: Thanks for the suggestion and I've e-mailed Fender Customer Relations to see if they can give me any more information based on the serial number. I honestly can't believe how pristine this guitar is...even nary a belt buckle scratch on the back.
