Hi

I have a Fender Tele, had it for a few years, mold, (I think it's mold), has appeared on the back and front of the guitar. Can I do anything to get rid of it? It is under the laminate.

I have pics if uploading is allowed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Leon

Yes get some pics up. Not sure what you mean by laminate, what sort of tele is it, how old is it, is it painted or a natural finish?

I'm not sure it would be mould, but it could be the finish or lacquer blemishing. Impossible to know without pics. Has the guitar got damp or left in the sun, or very humid conditions?

You need to upload the photos to a photo hosting site like flickr or photobucket, then you can post them to the forum.

It's been in its case for probably 8 months not in any damp conditions or extreme heat.

It's about 10 years old. I bought it from new.

It was a lovely guitar.

Thanks for all your help guys. Really appreciate it.

Fender offered the other guy a refund.

If it were mine and I wanted to keep it, I would remove that clear coating, clean it up, and just apply an oil or wax final finish.

Ok. What's the best method of getting the clear coating off?

Thanks

Just to inform everyone. Fender sent a UPS shipping ticket and the guitar is now in their posession at Leo House. They are investigating the problem and will let me know of any possible solutions.

Thanks for keeping us posted. Let us know what Fender comes up with. They have seen this problem before and hopefully they can refinish it, because it is a beauty (sans mold)!
