I am having real trouble finding out what colour my Vintage 1976 thinline is.

I am pretty sure it is an original custom colour and not a re-finish as I sent pictures to a vintage guitar shop in UK and they said it all looked original valuing the guitar at around £2300 or $3000-$3500

The closest colour I can find is a rare colour callled 7up green but there there have been suggestions that is is a lake placid blue where the laquer has yellowed making it look green?

Looks like Sea Foam Green that's darkened over time.

What does it look like under the pickguard?

I have no idea on the color. Andersen's Split Pea Soup, maybe. But I love the crazing in the finish. Looks awesome. I'd love to hear it, if you have posted any audio of it...

Didn't 7Up green become candy green after 7Up complained? Same color different name.

Somehow I doubt a blue Fender could yellow that much.
In marine paint that colour would have been called LeapFrog.
When I was a kid our neighbour had a boat exactly that colour.
If it's a refinish it could be that colour.

If it's stock then I agree with the darkened Seafoam guess.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I've seen LPB do that over time, very cool :) For confirmation, under the pickguard will be the original colour :)

Candy Green was created for the Eric Clapton Strat.

Looking at my price guide, the only stock colors durring this time period are: Black, Blond, Natural, Candy Apple Red, Lake Placid Blue, Natural, Olympic White, Sunburst, and Walnut.

Having said that, I'll say this, Fender would "one-offs" for some NAMM show, promotional, or for a famous private owner.

It's more likely a refinish, which will hurt the value of the guitar by 50%. The only way to get to the bottom of this is to take the guitar appart and see what's underneith.

Discontinued in 2010 after the artist's request.

You can see the original color in that chip and part if it on the lower edge of the body. Looks like a sonic blue or similar and someone sprayed tinted yellow nitro over it which turns them greenish. Either that, or it is the most severe case of a factory clear discoloring that I have even seen in my life. Was it stored half in a gas chamber and half in the sun?

I would say Daphne blue that has lacquer that yellow big time. I have seen the blues turn to greens over time. I don't think it is LPB as it doesn't appear to be a metallic finish, so probably Seafoam or Daphne.
