A couple of months ago I bought a new Squier Classic Vibe 50's Tele. A great value IMO and a definite Tele sound (twang). After reading about the 4 position switch, listening to all available demos and viewing the wiring diagrams, I had an amp/guitar tech make the modification for me. (I've been having some issues with shaking hands recently, so decided to have it done.....but I digress.)

I really like the availability of the additional sound, especially since all my other guitars are either humbucker or filter'tron equipped. I am having difficulty getting used to playing the Tele, however with all that 'twang' that I'm not accustomed to. I tend to react thinking my picking attack is bad and that keeps me from playing my best.

Sunday, I took the Tele to a jam session and had a friend who plays Teles play my guitar so I could go into the audience and listen to it. Sounded great to me, so I just need to better familiarize myself with it. Did you ever love the sound of your equipment when others play it, but not so much when you do?

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I just wanted to recommend this very common mod. (for tone reasons) to any tele owners/fans who may be considering it for the additional tone it provides. Or you can buy the Tele Baja model which comes with this arrangement plus the phase switch.

It would be good to hear others experience and opinions with the additional sound, either positive or negative, and also if anyone else has had some difficulty transitioning to playing a Tele when they're so accustomed to humbuckers.

Sorry if this topic is redundant to previous posts. You can always 'click' <=== :)

I have a Am Std with the 4way and I actually use the position a lot. It doesn't sound like a tele, so it's nice to have that humuckerish sound to it too, because the guitar just plays great.
