I'm looking to buy a Telecaster. I saw on the net a lot of good reviews about the Squier CV 50.

Some peeps said that is their main guitar now... Others said that the trustrod is useless and stay away from Squier...

I was in the guitar shop yesterday night and I was ''trying'' to play with the CV50... I spent 15 minutes on the tuning...nothing, the guitar was unplayable.. The seller tryed though with a chromatic tool, nothing...

I think that the demo guitar had something wrong...maybe the string was too much used.

for 400$ it seem a good deal if the guitar keep the tuning..

CV tele's are $380 brand new so $400 for one that stays tuned isn't a good deal. I think most people are drawn to their pine bodies as opposed to the neck, electronics, and hardware. Check the squier threads to see what owners think of them. For another $100 you can get a new mexi tele.

Do a search here. Lots of favorable comments on this forum AND the YouTube demos/reviews are very complimentary.

I bought one on the basis of the reviews and it is a fine guitar at any price. No issues whatsoever.

You identified the problem - it was a wall hanger, and given its reviews and price point probably played by more grubby little hands then most guitars in the shop.

They've been out a while, who knows how long it's been hanging there?

I was watching somes youtube about this guitar and all I saw it was good.

To be frank, I'm scared to buy a chinese guitar... I'm scared to got a guitar with fret issue or weird problem...

I prefer to pay more, like I did when I bough my Gibson Les Paul instead of the Epiphone at half price...

So Squier Classic Vibe or Fender (Mexican) 72 Custom ... I don't know ...

Anyway... Maybe I should change my mind...

Buy the Classic Vibe 50 from a reputable dealer (either local or on-line) that has a 45 day no questions asked return policy....One example is Sweetwater (where I got mine.)

I'm betting you'll keep it!

If your looking at buying online I would recommend Sweetwater. Mainly due to the fact that guitars above 300 bucks actually get pulled out of the boxes, tuned up checked over. they call it a 55 point inspection. Their Customer Service is 2nd to none. Plus they have a guitar gallery that shows pic's of the guitar you are buying. and you can pick out of many most times. sometimes they only have 1 but many times they have up to 4 to pick from. And if you have any issues they pay for shipping back to them.

Yes, it's hard to beat Sweetwater! I previously dealt with MF, then AMS, but now I favor Sweetwater.

I've played them and find the Classic Vibe series to be fanstastic, superior to the standard MIM line. Sounds to me, the guitar was not setup properly. Many of the professional online demo guys have the guitars setup, which may include a little fret dress/leveling. Many "new" guitars will need a setup just from climate changes and shipping. Before buying a guitar from a shop have it setup. Wouldn't hurt to have a fret level to see how they are sitting too.
