Hi ya new to the forum.

After having got myself an awesome Strat I have now see a mint Telecaster at a local auction. It looks brand new but after some research I am wondering if it is genuine and was wondering if anyone could help.

The serial number is US1230862. I have looked at various sites and cannot find serial number of this kind. Is it because it is a very recent guitar?.

Any help or enlightenment gratefully received.

Cheers Dudes.

Got the Serial Number wrong, it should be US12305862

Will post some photos if I am able to get to the auction rooms.

Cheers Dudes!

A lot of those sites haven't caught up to Fender's current serial number system; most of the sites end with the 2009 format.

Fender has been using the "US + 2 digits for the year" format since about March/April of 2010 (they used an interim format from January-March 2010 on USA models that just started with a "10"). So a "US12xxxxxx" number ran from say March 2012 to March 2013.

That format is used on American Specials, American Standards, American Deluxes and most of the USA-built Artist Models. The Tele you turned up could be from any of those series (but probably not an Artist model as the only current Artist series Tele is a James Burton model, and that would certainly stand out with that paisley flame finish and 3 pickups).

Hi Ya, and thanks for the reply.

Looking at the pictures on the auction site it looks genuine to me. Has a Fender label still attached and " Fender Corona California " engraved into the silver plate at the base of the neck.
I am sure it is a standard but will take a good look and some pictures when I get to the auction house.

Cheers Dude!

Glad to help!

I should have said above that the only USA Artist model Tele that has this type of serial number is the Burton; the G.E. Smith model is USA but it has the serial number stamped on the neck plate.
