Hi,

I`m new to the forum, so sorry if there are any threads relating to this topic...

I`m bidding on a custom shop tele that seems to be a MIM with a custom shop decal...
Well, it has a good price over ebay, but I took me some hours to think that it could be fake

It has no case, nor certificate of authenticity and the seller didn`t send me a serial number...
the bid was on US$1,2k so I thought...why not? i always wanted a custom shop...
Please help me, because i`m reporting this seller for that
here is the link to ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331152332184?_trksid=p3984.m570.l4448&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI331152332184.N1.S1.M259.R1.TR1

here are the guitar pictures

IMO the neck grain looks ugly regardless of where it was made. wouldn't want it.

That's not even a MIM tele, well the body might be, but the neck isn't.

I just saw it has 21 bids for over $1100. Someone is getting ripped off.

Pretty certain there are no Custom Shop guitars (Corona, CA) coming out of Mexico...

OTOH, I actually like this guitar from the pics... good finish, beautifully figured maple neck.

But, waaay too much Do.. Re.. Mi.. for a Fake.

cheers!

I asked the seller for the serial no., he claimed that the lacquer had rubbed off where the serial number was, he also claimed he had the guitar appraised by local experts who have all valued it in the $2800-3200 range but provided no documentation. Obviously a fake, the tuners aren't' even on straight. It isn't even like some of the 1970s Japanese fakes where you can say, yeah its a fake but it is as good as an original and in some cases better.

Looks like the buyer has 0 feedback, so maybe he'll end up not paying for it.

The headstock is not even the right shape. No truss rod plug, wonky tuners, the scratchplate is like nothing fender make.

What a massive crock of $@!&! He's lying through his teeth or his 'experts' are on his payroll, or some if his make belive friends.

It might well be Custom Shop, just not Fender's Custom Shop.
I don't think any one part of that guitar has seen the inside of a Fender manufacturing facility.
