Anticipation is building! Plenty hot and dry in South Central Texas, it would be dry in about 30 minutes here. 8)

FINISHED:

Well it took forever for the paint to dry, but I finally got there :) Sorry for the wait guys. Sanding started again yesterday:

From this:

To This:

Got the pickups wired

Tuners on

Wired up the switching harness (5 way as a 3 way switch)

So we went from this:

To This:

And here she is next to her sister, the reason I did this project :)

Needless to say I'm stoked. Those EMGs sound MEAN... That active front single coil split is by far the GLASSIEST pickup I've heard. The rear pickup is very trebly on the single coil mode, but just flash out nasty in humbucking mode, pinch harmonic city. it will take some EQ'ing on my amp to get those 2 dialed in correctly but on the whole, I'm stoked. Lot more work than I was expecting :) but thats ok, turned out good in the end :) I'll put together a clip in a bout 2 weeks time of me running through a bunch of songs on the guitar. I can tell you from the breif play I've had with it so far, that the middle position, front pickup humbucker back pickup single is a stand out "KEEF" tone. Wether I use it or not is completely debatable because that from pickup single coil.... Ohhhh so sweet :) Any way cya in 2 - 3 weeks :)

Dan

Fantastic! Really a great job, and they look so nice together!! I'm new to all the electronic gizmos, but that is some serious hardware attached to those pots! Can't wait for the Demo! :)

The thing is...if you notice on Keef's ax the switch is always in the bridge position. There is even rumor that the neck humbucker was not even wired in and the switch was wired so if he accidentally knocked it out of the bridge position it still played only the bridge pup.

Can anyone confirm if there is any validity to that rumor?

To suggest that your $2 hack job can emulate Keith Richards' legendary tone suggests you are either half deaf or half stupid.

These guitars were beautiful before you got them, now they've been destroyed and rebuilt with the nastiest looking gold hardware I have ever seen.

You must have read a bunch of threads where people have successfully modded guitars and thought, $@!& it, I'll have a go. But those people knew what they were doing - you do not.

The really sad thing is that you could have easily bought a dirt cheap squier off ebay to do this to but instead you did it to a couple of relatively expensive instruments which are now, quite frankly worthless.

P.S

In your earlier posts you talk about you 'luthier' friend but be honest, that was just a guy who owned a drill, right? Any half decent luthier would have done his best to talk you out of this.

User WillJames reported to the admins. It's the same annoying troll (JohnDerp), he simply changed his user ID.

Ignore his comments, your guitars are a pure beauty with the gold hardware.

That was a pretty unwarranted troll attack. Like you are the first person to ever modify a Fender to suit your tastes? Image

Great job BTW. You turned everyday boring off the shelf Teles into something unique and beautiful.

Really?

I think you're the troll. You encourage people to destroy valuable things because you think it's funny.

Honesty, these are not beautiful or unique. Have you ever seen those sites selling fake guitars with mismatched hardware? They look just like this.

I've seen thousands of modded guitars online and this is by far the most misguided and ugly.

Someone should have stopped him but you're all too nice to tell him the truth and now look what's happened.
