This last weekend I bought a '08-'09 MIM Telecaster from someone local for a pretty decent price, very nice condition, first one I've owned. The guy I purchased it from put a Seymour Duncan mini HB in the bridge position, and so far I'm pretty happy with the guitar. Nothing fancy, but it plays nice and sounds good.

Just wondered if this model came with the bridge cover originally, if there is a standard cover that would work on it, and are they more for looks or function? Anyone have a preference on using them or leaving them off?

I doubt your tele came with 1. They are basically there for looks. If you like to palm mute, you probably won't want 1 on there. You can get them pretty cheap, around $15. They pop on and off so install and removal is fairly simple.

Thanks for the response. Not sure if I'll try one or not, not really a big deal, more curious than anything.

Fender does not make a bridge cover for the modern 6-saddle bridge. The cover for the vintage 3-saddle bridge will not fit.

... said the man with the bleeding knuckles...

I wonder, how many of us would order one if they were available? It would be nice to have one, though it would probably not be in use (just like the old ashtrays...).
