Hi, on July 10, 2009 I bought a American Nashville B-Bender, to which the paint is lifting so much that you can insert a pick, this guitar has never been used and has always been in its case in a place where I have 14 other guitars, whose paintings are perfect, so this damage is not due to changes in temperature or humidity. When I bought It, the paint seemed to be perfect.

Is there a way to stop this paint lifting?

Thanks.

Thats uncanny, I've never seen anything like that happen on fenders, must have been a bad job from the factory.

Contact your local music store or fender directly and see what they can do for you, it shouldn't be doing that.

I saw this on the TDPRI
Has Fender responded to you about this ? Did you see the guy with the Rosewood Tele ? his clear coat is popping off too.

Like GM back in the eighties, clear coat just popped off of the hoods and roofs.

And Ford Rangers had the same problem...but only on their Green ones! Had two of them with same problem!

And send an e-mail to consumerrelations@fender.com. they will get back with you and yes you have a problem with your finish.

I sent email to Fender, and they answered me 4 times:

1º they asked me the serial number, I sent them the number
2º they asked me the date of purchase, I sent them the date of purchase
3º they asked me for the proof of purchase, I sent them the proof of purchase
4º they asked me for my location, I told them my location

And they did not answer any more.

NOTE: When I sent the first email, I told them that I was not asking for any kind of warranty, I just want to know if is there a way to stop this paint lifting.

I'm in Venezuela, that's why I doubt that warranty applies.

Seen this before, but not on an American strat. Bought a beat up mim traditional series (black label mid 90's) strat to strip down, practice working on, and make worth playing. There were areas I could take pliers and just pull the paint off down to the body, which was fine because I wanted it off.

Unless the cause is wood that have undergone several very great temperature variation as very wet and then very dry ?

I do not know if you can meet it in your country ?

I saw this happen with a Tele I used to own. Keep in mind that every guitar is different, and every environment is different. There could reasons this happened that have nothing to do with the factory.

I suspect that some of these factors may be:
temperature
paint
moister content in the wood

Hey,

I am the owner of the Rosewood Tele they were talking about on TDPRI.COM
Fender admits it was a Manufacture defect but doesn't have a Rosewood Tele body to replace it with. The Rosewood has oils in it and the adhesive used under the clear coat is turning colors, the clear coat is fine. Looks like the wood on yours was not dry or dusty.
I'm sure they are well aware of the problem, just not fast on taking care of their customer's. Sad but true, go to that sight it only for Telecaster owners.
Good luck, your goner need it!
