Hi,

I have the opportunity to buy an American Standard Telecaster Candy Red from the 90's.
It has some scratches but for the rest it is in a mint condition.

They ask 700$ for it.

Is that a fair price or too high?

That is not a deal , price may be right IF the guitar don't need a frets job and truss rod nut is not damaged .

See a qualified luthier if not shure yourself

Just polishing frets or any work like that is not expensive ( $60 ? ) but a complete set of new frets = few hundred $ .

Any pictures ?

I didn't take pictures in the shop.

The frets are not worned out and it plays really nice.
The neck is straight and no fret buzz.

The only thing that I am doubting about is the price.
The shop owner is going to clean it up for free. It is not a luthier ofcourse.

So you think the price is too high?

No enough information . No pictures , no serial number ! eware of fake Fender or Parts=O-Caster if you look for an original Fender product

Year ? 1990 , it is not a deal but fair , 1999 , it is a deal , between them price might be good if in good shape . What about truss rod nut ? You did not know I guess , ask the guy show you .

If you are sure if real Fender and like the guitar , buy it .

Investment or working guitar? Here's a great value for the latter: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TeleCV50BB/
Check out some of the more professionally done demos on YouTube if you're interested....such as:

Before I purchased mine, I did a lot of research and couldn't find any negative reviews. I must agree, it's amazing for <$400. In fact, it's great at any price.

I bought it.
The shop owner gives me a guarantee that it is genuine.
It plays fantastic and to be honest I love it.

Here are some pictures:

The frets are great. It was not the previous owner main guitar as he prefers Stratocasters. That is why he sells it to buy another Deluxe.

Thank you all for the great advice and I am proud to join the Telecaster club.

N5 +5 digits is a 1995 , I bought a 1995 Stratocaster few years ago , it is my main guitar, I love it.
I have a Stratocaster Deluxe too but I prefer my American Standard 1995 and your Tele could be same family ?

Frets are looking like new .

I 'll buy it :D
