Oh man... you guys are making me feel terrible! I totally agree this Koa is way out of my league, especially for a first guitar. I probably jumped the gun because I got a good deal on it. I'm hoping the dealer will give me a break considering it's about 20 days old, plus I know they can sell it as new.

I actually considered a installing a pickgaurd, but I was too worried about screwing into a chambered body, PLUS the fact that the carved top is slightly beveled, and not flat like a normal Tele - not sure a pickgaurd would look proper on it.

The dealer has a one of a kind 67 closet classic tele for sale, and the price seems to be really good. I'll probably get more on the trade if I upgrade (at least that's what I'm telling myself). It's not relic'd, but it is slightly faded with some paint checking - this one I really like, and I won't be afraid to strum on the damn thing.

My suggestion, if pickguard desirable without drilling holes = use Bostik Blutack under guard = no holes required = can be returned to original state if unhappy with look. Try it, it works for me ( on LP quilted top) . Check that finish will not be affected first is a good idea.

I will trade you my 2011 American Standard Tele, which looks great (black) and sounds KILLER, and is flawless, but you won't have to worry so much.

PM me if interested in doing a trade.

I just want to help you!!!!

Ha! The Koa is already on it's way back. I posted pics of the new closet classic that replaced it here:

Even if I was given the world's most beautiful guitar, I would plat the crap about it.
I don't buy for the look, whenI get a guitar, it mainly is for the sound and playability.

So: Play the hell out of it ;)
