Look at what Fender says: http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... ct-dating/

I would assume it is real, most of all because it is Mexican. You don't usually find clones of them for the same reason you don't find clones of Casio watches. There's more profit in making a fake high priced item.

Yes, it's a real MIM Classic 50s. I am surprised that the "MZ9xxxxxx" wasn't recognized by Guitar Dater Project; I thought that it had all the formats through 2009 and stopped with the 2010 formats.

If you really want to verify the number you should send it to Fender's Consumer Relations team at consumerrelations@fender.com.

Yes, this guitar is 100% Mexican, came to me and what surprised me - very comfortable and are fixed throughout the neck, like a piano! I was surprised! Very, very good piece. Thanks to everyone who applied and help! Best regards! :)

At the end of 1999, the serial numbers transitioned from an “MN” prefix to an “MZ” prefix with the “M” designating Mexico and the “Z” designating the 2000s.

SERIAL NUMBERS PRODUCTION DATES
MZ0 + 5 or 6 digits
2000-2001
MZ1 + 5 or 6 digits 2001-2002
MZ2 + 5 or 6 digits 2002-2003
MZ3 + 5 or 6 digits 2003-2004
MZ4 + 5 or 6 digits 2004-2005
MZ5 + 5 or 6 digits 2005-2006
MZ6 + 5 or 6 digits 2006-2007
MZ7 + 5 or 6 digits 2007-2008
MZ8 + 5 or 6 digits 2008-2009
MZ9 + 5 or 6 digits 2009-2010
