This is my first visit to the 'Tele' section of the forum. I've frequented "the Lounge" and "Modern Amps", but never any of the Fender Guitar sections.

Prior to now, all my guitars have been humbucker or filter'tron types and none with single coils. I've played friends Strats and Teles along with an occasional trial in a music gear store, but never owned one. I do own and use Fender tube amps and they are my favorites.

Don't know why, but I recently had the urge to try a Tele. I previously had an image of the Tele associated with Country music, but became more aware of its common use in other genres. I scoured YouTube and listened for hours to the many demos and stumbled across a shootout on various Fender Teles from the custom shop down to the Squier line. One interesting one was the one on Anderton's from the UK where Rob and 'the Captain" did a blindfold test on 4 or 5 standard Teles. The 'Squier Classic Vibes '50s Tele' faired very well...not just considering the price, but regardless of price. This rating was reinforced seemingly with few exceptions throught the YouTube demos/reviews.

So, I bought one. Now it is the honeymoon phase for sure, but after two or three hours playing it this afternoon, I'm very favorably impressed. It hasn't disappointed at all.

Just thought I'd give a recommendation to anyone interested in a Tele, to definitely test drive this model. At less than $400 it's quite a bargain (assuming it proves to be durable). I should also 'plug' Sweetwater. Every other guitar I've bought, I end up tweaking the setup. Some more than others, but always a 'tweak'. Sweetwater claims to do this to every guitar they sell and this one was exactly as I like them. I measured all the spec's with feeler guages and didn't adjust anything. Is that because Sweetwater adjusted it or was it that way from Fender? Either way, it's a good thing.

No one with any thoughts/observations/ experience on this model? :|
Played it again several hours today, and still impressed!

There's a lot of love for the Classic vibe line on this forum, so you can look up past threads, and find a lot of info there, like this one:

Thanks Sev Grey,
I must have screwed up when I did my search
Yes, it does look like many others share my experience with this guitar.
Thanks again.

Just an update on my new tele.

Was playing it at band practice and fumbling (more than usual) on some solos on the EAB strings high on the neck. This, of course, prompted the onset of tinkeritis.

Lowered the EAB strings and that triggered buzz, so I studied the measurements I have recorded for my other guitars and decided to put a very slight bow in the neck. Loosened the truss rod something less than a 1/4 turn and the buzz is gone and the EAB strings are now lower than received.

All is well (for now  until the next tinkeritis attack). For my previous guitars, this only occurs once or twice and then I leave them alone. I thought this one was going to be perfect as received, but I couldn't help myself.
