Hey guys, i've been looking to pick one of these up but because they're a special run i'm finding it really difficult to get a hold of one in store to actually play the thing and see it in the flesh.
While looking around at pics online I noticed a couple of variations in the colour of the paisley design, an all out gray and others that appeared to have a green tint.
Can anyone shed some light on this, are the 2012 and 2013 reissue (not sure if these are UK only) slightly different in colour or are my eyes just playing tricks on me? I think the grey looks great but the green tint isn't as convincing, don't wanna order it online and be dissapointed when it arrives.

Pictures lie. In particular, what's known as the "white balance" differs depending on the light conditions outside, and has to be adjusted on a case by case basis. Most people who take pictures do no such thing, or even know about it. They rely on their camera to do it, and cameras tend to guess based on one thing only - skin tones, because what matters to most consumers are people pics.

So don't rely on pictures for accurate color representation, especially not if taken by amateurs. Unless you see something in the picture that you KNOW is white or a shade of grey, and can thus adjust the white balance yourself and re-save the picture, treat colors in pics as probably wrong.

I own one. There is a slight green tint that you see in certain light, it seems to be more pronounced when I take it outside. It is not as green as that one photo you linked. It seem to change colors depending on the light source. These pics both of the same guitar (mine).

Here is a pic of mine taken outside:

And here is a pic of mine taken inside (with my other teles):

Thanks for the replys, I think i'll wait and see if my locol guitar store gets some in stock before I bite the bullet. Jumped in yesterday and they had the strat in stock which did have a slight green tint to it aswel. Tried to get some info out of the salesman but he didn't even it know it came in the tele so that was a non starter.

The pics were a big help Synmike, great collection and the Paisley looks stunning in both. If anyone else has pics of theirs i'd be gratefull to see them.

The Strat and Tele are the same color. So if you saw the Strat you have a good idea. I think the Tele looks way better in Paisley, but the color is the same.

Don't wait for one to come into your dealer. These were a limited run in the middle of 2012. They sold pretty quickly. It doesn't seem like Fender has any more. They removed it from the Fender web site but they must have a few Strats left because that is still on the site.

There is one for sale here:

You can see different colors in those photos, too.

Mike.

I own one as well, walked into GC Clearwater Florida a day after it was traded in! Awesome look and even better sound!! I had my favorite shop in Tampa, (Hyde Park Guitar Shop), do a restring and a complete set up ... what a tone monster!!! If you can locate one, buy it! Just make sure you can trust the seller. I highly reccomend this guitar and to make it even better, Fender made between 250 to 500 of them, that's it!!
Good luck in your search. 8)

Richie Sambora deserves a Black Paisley Tele to match his Strat.
