So I just received my new costume shop tele from a small workshop building all my costumes, she's a gorgeous all handmade beauty and I'm not happy with the pickups I got there (Duncans of some type).
The guitar is book matched ash body (VERY dry) and a maple neck.
What pickups will give me the best and most authentic tele "twang" ?
I'm looking for that specific sound when you hear it, you know it’s a tele.
Thanks

Very good question :!:
How many answer you'll have ?

What do you know about your pickup "Duncan style " ? No name PU ? To know Tele sound you don't like

I have a 53 reissue Tele , great Tele sound .

I'll go for Fender Custom Shop.

Post some pictures of your beauty

Quarter Pound® for Tele (lead & rhythm) STL-3 and STR-3

High-output true single-coil pickup for hard-hitting tones. Great for classic rock, jazz-rock fusion, heavy rock and aggressive instrumental rock.

Pearly Gates™ SH-PG1 and TBPG-1
Warm, slightly-hotter-than-vintage humbucker. Great for blues, classic rock, southern rock, jam, and hard rock.

Look very far from tele twang

You change music style ?

The distance between the saddles and the bridge pickup affects twang.
It also should be wired like a telecaster, including a bleed capacitor.

But most of all, picking closer to the saddles will give more twang. If the guitar is designed in a way that makes that uncomfortable, there won't be much twang.

Nice sounding twangbanger. :)

Is the humbucker splittable?

Premier Guitar, a few months ago, showed how to wire your Tele and made an Eldred Esquire that would result in more twang. I did it to an nice looking, but inexpensive Douglas Tele copy just for the fun of it. All it took was another pick guard, and it does have a lot a twang!

Really liking the the Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups. Just put one on a bridge side of a 1974 tele and it is very, very nice.
