I have a Tele with 72 and special stamped on the neck and pocket. The guitar has a humbucker in the neck position, 2 knobs, chrome pickguard, blonde high gloss finish and rosewood neck. I have only seen 1 other like it. Any backround info is appreciated.

To my knowledge, there are no Fender neck plates that say just "72 Special".
So far, I would guess that at least the neck plate is fake.

But really, you either have to provide pictures, or a much more detailed description.
What's the color? Is it solid-body or semi-hollow? Skunk stripe on the neck? Three or four hole neck plate? Is there a protruding truss rod nut on the headstock? 3-saddle or 6-saddle bridge? What kind of bridge pickup? Ashtray on the bridge? Vintage or jumbo style frets? Vintage or modern tuners? Any brand name stamped on them? What type of string tree? What's the text on the front of the headstock? And that's just a start - describe the details! Quite frankly, your description is useless, but if I were to guess based on what you've said so far, I'd say it's likely a home-built partscaster.

You guys need to read a bit more carefully. 72 special is stamped Inside the pocket and on the neck heel according to the OP.

My reading comprehension is fine. The OP said "I have a Tele with 72 and special stamped on the neck and pocket". There's no mention of "heel" or "inside". The word "on" signifies outside.

And with the paltry information given, "no markings or serial numbers" screams "partscaster" or "stripped fake". It might have been "special" to the guy who built it.
But unless the OP posts some pictures or more precise descriptions, we'll likely never know.
