I have a American 52 reissue and a 2011 American standard.
Blizzard pearl with rosewood fret board. I like a bunch of the newer models.
But I want the gentlemen at fender to know, I will never buy a tele , with a belly cut.
The American special is cool, but need more colors , and a rosewood fret board option.
A factory Bigsby rosewood fret board in sea foam green or lake placid blue, would cause my debit card to jump out quick.
I love telecasters but when you change the body, its not a telecaster anymore...
Not suggesting you stop making them if they sell, but give us traditional (aka old)
guys a little love.

thanks for the link,
And a very cool guitar. I certainly would consider one, but
But bet they could build as good or better in California , and the price would be close.
I saw a black one here in Portland for 1080.00 new.
If it was us made and 1250.00 I am on it...
now if I see a Japanese one in a color I like , it might follow me home...

Like you, I'm more a traditionalist.

My '99 MIM 'Nashville' (modded to standard twin Tex-Mex pup configuration, by the PO), and my 2012 Telebration Empress Telecaster have the traditional body.

But I'm also really liking like my FSR Custom set neck Mahogany HH which does have the Belly Cut.

Being Mahogany, maybe the Belly Cut adds enough lightness to make it feel right.

But, it really comes down the the individual guitar.

My first inclination would be to go with the traditional body, but no way would I pass over a 'keeper' just because of the scooped back.

These are every bit a Telecaster in my book, and I can't imagine Fender ever totally abandoning the traditional body from their lineup.

cheers!

Thanks ! :D

All three are very different guitars.

The Mexi is probably the most traditional.

The Empress is a little brighter w/ it's Maple neck, hotter pups, and I can reach higher w/ the 22 frets. It's so light at under 5.5lbs. that it almost feels toy-like compared to the others.

The FSR Custom HH is almost an anomoly...very LP-esque w/ the twin EMG (active) HBs, shorter scale length, carved & bound Mahogany body, flatter (15" radius) bound Mahogany set-neck w/ 22 frets. Though Indonesian by extraction, it's quality exceeds the MIM and is every bit on par w/ the MIA Empress. Hard to imagine this much guitar at the MSRP.

cheers!

My personal take on any guitar in general, it only matters how it plays, how it sounds and how it feels.
