I have a Tele Baja, which I love the feel of - neck and board. However I find the pickups (CS Twisted and CS Broadcaster) way too polite and generic.

I am looking for pickups which give that traditional grunty, growly. snarly voice which Teles are famous for, but without the shrill.

I've been doing some research and the Original Vintage seem to get that sort of ballpark sound but I am also considering the Custom Shop 51 Nocasters?

I play mainly classic rock / blues / funk.

Any suggestions / recommendations?
Thanks

Bare Knuckle Flat 50's ...

Or a set by Jaime at The Creamery. Maybe with one of his Wide Range repro humbuckers in the neck position ...

Thank you for recommending these options.

I am familiar with Bare Knuckle pickups as I have some Mule humbuckers installed on my Les Paul and they are great.

However, I would be interested to know why you would recommend a different brand when the sound I am looking for is that classic Tele nasal growl, which a 52 RI Tele seems to deliver so authentically.

Hmmm... Interesting... So another nod to non-Fender pickups...

Surely a good fender pickup should be able to deliver a good Tele tone

Stick a set of Texas Tele pickups!

Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups deliver Razor-sharp attack and higher output. Born in the Custom Shop and used on many custom-made Teles, these pickups feature height-staggered Alnico V magnets mounted into a fiber bobbin wrapped with enamel-coated magnet wire. The bridge pickup features a copper-plated steel bottom plate for increased output, presence and midrange. The neck pickup utilizes a nickel silver cover for clear, warm tone with increased output.

Booteeke pickups are very popular atm but could I suggest the Fender Original Vintage will give you the sound.
The CS Texas Specials are way too hot.
Try searching in the tdpri forum for more experienced advice.

Not sure how different you're going to find those bridge pickups you're considering from what you have right now. They're all variations on the same thing: an early 50's Telecaster pickup. While there's some mild variation, they're all in the same ball park. All I'm saying is you're not going to see any drastic difference in tone any more than you might achieve with adjustment of the pickup heights or use of the tone knob.

Anyway, my fave of the bunch for gnarly nasty Telecaster tone is the Seymour Duncan STL-1B Broadcaster. I also have a Don Mare 0038 "Keefer" which really has pushed mids.
