Im rather new here but anyway, i was looking at other gear to buy but after some consideration and advise from my teacher, i decided to look at telecasters.

so off i went testing telecasters, out of that tho i tested 2 custom shops (a nocaster and a 50s), 1 AVRI 52, 1 American Standard, and a Squire CV

strangely enough the standard comes up tops, the satin neck is smooth to play and the tone seems good to me.

i find this common to what i play even with strats, ive tested near equal amounts or more of it and the standard always seem to take the helm. others didnt impress me.

heres wondering, if anyone here is getting the same response or i am just not looking at the right direction? or somehow all the guitars i test are dogs.

Well out of those the standard is most "modern" guitar, there's nothing wrong with it, they are great guitars even if they are cheaper than the vintagy ones.

I have a 2010 and love it.

And as everybody here will tell you, you have to get what feels good to you, and not what others consider the best. If it speaks to you get it, that's the rule I follow when I buy guitars.

.... and a very good rule it is.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It is the ONLY rule. If it looks great but sounds or plays like crap, the guitar won't get played!

Well, there are "stage guitars", for those who has reached the level of fame where the fans would faint in ecstasy no matter what you plucked, but want a show more than anything.
But that's not the case for most of us.

While i certainly agree that what sounds and appeals to me is the best, but i also understand every guitar needs a different approach.

any of you guys experience the same? after trying that many high end fenders you cant "get it"
