MIJ telecaster semi-hollow mahogany. Neck pickup went dead after cutting in and out for a year.

I bought a brand new fender N3 neck pup and followed the instructions carefully - red to switch; green and black (both grounds) to back of volume pot. almost nothing comes out in the neck position. Bridge pickup still loud and strong, middle position still all bridge sound - almost no diff. Is it the switch? Well when the old pup was in it, there was never an issue so I dont suspect it, plus it apparently works, that is, the neck pickup is isolated in that position, just very quiet

I get the factory reading of 8.8 on it; Bridge is 6.2. Is there something different about the thinline vs regular tele wiring? tnx

Old pickup dead and the new pickup dead too ????

Probably not the pickups but the switch .
Witch tele do you have ? NFG mean nothing for me . You talks about Thinline .

Show us schematic from SUPPORT , here page up , right.

How to test your switch and pickups.

Solder or put a jumper from your new pickup 's red wire directly to the output jack positive ; white wire . Same if you solder the new PU to the center lug of the volume pot.

If you get sound from the pickup, you have a defective switch or wiring.

negative - new pickup not dead just quiet. maybe 1/4 as loud as the other. when the old pup was working, this wasnt a problem, so i dont suspect the switch. Famous last words.

tried that bypass already to no avail

check this out. laying loose in the cavity now i get full sound. mount up to pickgard and problem reappears. no shielding in the cavity ror guard. so i discovered that if you push just a little bit on the upper side of the pickup cover you get fiull sound. ho knows when it will cut out - probably right in the mifdle of a solo.

Careful examination shows clean assembly and soldering; no exposed interfering or crossed wires, everything looks tidy and aligned. This was brand new from MF sealed factory package and well boxed for shipment.

Conclusiuon: this N3 pickup is a POS I guess ill have to llive with it. How is Fender on warranty satisfaction?

Take, or send it back to MF. The pickup is obviously faulty and they should replace it, or refund your money.
