.......I think its an American Standard but never seen one with such a dark "Burst" colour...its more Tobacco rather than Sunburst...it also has a black rather than white pic-guard. It has all the "bits" that to me suggests its an American Standard (serial no. Z8235761) but just unsure as the Fender website brings up all the models....just not this particular colour. Can anyone assist ??.....very kind

If it has a maple fretboard and a 70s style Fender logo on the headstock it's probably an American Special.

Thanks for the reply to my earlier post. I found it in the back catalogue.....an American Standard with Black pickguard, 22 frets, Corona California on back-plate etc.......but thanks for all your help !!

Hi aberdeen165, looks like ya got what you were looking for but just for the heck of it,
The serial does track back to an American Std Tele Maple fingerboard in 3 Tone Sunburst,
completed 12/11/2008 and shipped to Europe 1/7/2009.
The pickguard on those should be 3-ply parchment....but not hard or unusual for someone to swap it out.
Main thing of course, is that it plays nice ;O) Enjoy!!
