Yeah I got one; beautiful silver case and all!
Nice axe in all respects except one: It don't sound like no Tele!
I changed the capacitor with the one supplied by and "In Accordance With" Fender and it still doesn't sound like a Tele...
I bought it at GC without playing it because some you know what was "trying out" some axe; playing what ever he thought the whole store wanted/needed to hear. Over and over....that stuff runs me right out of the store!
The wife was for the purchase so I struck while the iron was hot...

Change the circuit to the modern version and have a 4 way put in. Then you'll love it. The 70th comes with nocaster pickups that are fabulous sounding.

UPDATE: On my Guitar Center Edition 60th Anniversay Tele...
I installed the Samarium Colbalt Tele pickups; STILL doesn't sound like a Tele... Where's the SPANK???? It sounds awsome but no SPANK!
It plays very well inspite of the 25.5" scale; it plays as easy as my Epiphone Les Paul.
You advise installing a 4-way.... a 4-way what?
Do you mean a 4-way pick-up switch? Never heard of one. Strats have a 5-way switch....

You can bu a four way switch for a tele from a Fender Dealer. It gives you neck, neck and bridge in parallel (like a humbucker), neck and bridge in parallel (like a modern tele, and bridge. The 52 comes with the circuit found on the original 52s. The first pesition is very bassy sounding as it was supposed to act like a bass guitar in the early bands, the middle position is the regular neck with the tone control and the last one is the bridge with tone control. Originall, there should have been a "modern" 3 way in with the case candy. That is Neck, both and bridge. Much more "spank" with this and the 4 way setup. Good luck

My 60th didn't come with an extra switch, it came with the 6 saddle bridge

and a capacitor only.

Sounds like a 4 way switch would be pretty dark as you describe.

Twang in the bridge a bit fatter in the neck and bridge

positions....tdarker in the neck position that's what I want.

My 60th sounds nice but it doesn't sound what a tele (to me) should sound

like. I should prob. get some texas pickups with the orange capacitor

though I don't know the value off hand.

I installed the original extra capacitor and modded the wiring as

prescribed in the provided drawing and got no twang, thinking it was the

ash body I lived with it, then I installed the samarium-colbalt pickups and

still no twang. I have even considered buying another Tele to get the

@#$#@%^&* TWANG but that shouldn't be nessesary!

I am open to and would appreciate some reccomendations.

SCNs sound too sterile. That's why you don't have the spank and twang you'd expect from your guitar.

Drop the SCNs and stick a set of twang-banging Texas Tele pickups.

Try adjusting your pups. The further sunk the darker the tone the closer to the strings the brighter the sound. Have to disagree about noiseless pups sounding sterile as I have 4 axes with them and they all sound great to me. Also Mike Eldreds #1 Strat has them and I believe he knows a thing about tone. You have to fool with the height till you hit the sweet spot.
