Does anyone own one of these? I'm gassing big time over it.

Yes, I own one.
I love it. Not only is the unique wood nice, but most things about it is better than the regular Teles. The pickups are different (and I have another WRH Tele, so I can definitely attest to this), the neck has a compound radius, corner cut neck mount block for easier high string reach, locking tuning machines, belly cutout, chambered for lighter weight and better resonance...
Visually, it's stunning, with no control plate, nitro finish, birdseye maple neck with dark abalone dot inlays (the web page says black dots, and is wrong) and a back that differs in color between instruments - anything from walnut to near black. Mine is candy cola.

Soundwise, it's very bluesy, with plenty of bass and sustain. I have another WRH tele, but this one sounds completely different, and for the better. I would not trade it for a Custom Shop shop guitar - it's that good.

The only thing I dislike about it are the jumbo frets. And Fender doesn't sell new necks without jumbo frets. And none in birdseye maple anyhow.

And the G&G tweed case it came with sucks - quite badly made and doused with a bordello perfume that stinks months later. But I won't hold that against the guitar.

Doesn't sound like the G&G that I remember - cool axe though. 8)

Thanks Arth, beautiful guitar. I like everything about it till you got to the jumbo frets. The Fender's description says medium jumbo. I would have been very disappointed if I had bought online like I usually do and it showed up with jumbos.
I have a Carvin that I had built with SS jumbo frets. I'm fine with it 98% of the time. Every once in a while during a certain section of a song, I'll be pulling sharp notes. I thought it might teach me to lighten up my touch, but I've decided I made a mistake and am thinking about getting a refret done even though there's absolutely no wear on the SS.
You might consider a refret. It sounds like a great guitar.
I originally was looking for a Tele to keep in my office and didn't need anything too nice. When I saw the Select HH and read the description, all reasoning went out the window. You saved me a bunch of money.

"Medium jumbo" is what they are - I call those jumbo. Anything that isn't vintage narrow are too big for my taste. If you are okay with medium jumbo, the guitar is wonderful.

You can see two of the problems in the above pics - not that I tried to capture them. The strap for the accessories box doesn't match the fastener; I have to pull it to the side. And if you look at the right where it's hinged, you'll see the plush coming loose. The seams miss the fabric in several places. The center neck rest has gaps around it where picks disappear to be found by a future generation. And the brass locks are badly aligned too, to the point that it's difficult to close.
But worst is the smell. It brings back memories of Reeperbahn.

But that's all okay - I bought the guitar for the guitar, not the case. And the guitar rocks. Er. Blueses...

Thanks for clearing that up. You've renewed a rather bad and costly case of gas. I'm good with medium jumbo.

I see that a local GC has one in stock, less than 10 miles from my house. So, I can see which way this is going. It's listed online in their Platinum Room. Looking at the photos, it looks like the rear is a dark cherry stain. I can't understand why they do that. Gibson uses a red stain on the rear of nearly everything they make. What's wrong with a natural wood finish?

The back of this particular guitar has all different stain colors, ranging from walnut to almost black. Just like the front differs, so does the back.
Here are two examples (from Sweetwater):

Mine is what I'd call dark candy cola, darker and less brown than the second of those two.

Maple only. You reminded me how my tastes have changed. Two years ago, rosewood was my favorite and all my guitars had it. Then I got a Carvin with ebony, and it became my favorite. Then I got my Clapton with satin finish maple, and it moved up into #2 spot. Rosewood is now #3. I still like it, but I prefer ebony followed by non gloss maple.
Unfortunately, I think the fb on this guitar has gloss finish on it. I've got to go play it to see if it will feel okay.

Yes, it's gloss, but not high gloss. The back of the neck is satin.
