Who inspired you to get a tele? For me, it was basically Keith Richards, although watching Springsteen play his throughout the years had a pretty big impact, too.

How 'bout you?

I always thought Tele's were cool looking. When I got my first one I was hooked. :D

I would have to say mostly my Dad. He had one as I was growing up. It was a pre-74 model with some modifications. I loved that thing. So easy to play. Others that influenced me would be Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.

Teppei Teranishi and Dustin Kensrue from THRICE and Mark Engles from DREDG inspired my newest love for the Telecaster.

for some fine examples of how the Tele can be used for some really amazing rock sounds check out Thrice's "Vheissu" and "The Alchemy Index Volumes I, II, III and IV" and Dredg's "Catch Without Arms" and "El Cielo".

Sweet, I thought I was the only Thrice fan on this forum. They were definitely what converted me. When I saw them play Come All You Weary before TAI came out, I was floored by Teppei's tone and that sparked my interest in Telecasters.

It was the solid body that really started it all. So many have played it and got so much diversity from such a simple unit. Any kind of music from Buck Owens to Jimmy Page and beyond!

Definitely Bruce. Now if I could only play a little like him I'd be happy.

For me, it was the very first shot of waylon jennings' tele from the dukes of hazard opening.
Also, oddly, prince's tele even though it isn't a fender.

I prefer Strats and have two, but I have one Tele. I was walking into a music store and saw a '72 Thinline Tele (humbuckers), natural finish. I played it and it had a fantastic sound. So even though I had no plans on buying a guitar, I bought that one.
