Hey there, i've whittled it down, i had 2.05k to spend on a guitar or a rig, and after asking a few people on here and playing a couple of guitars, would you believe the best guitar and nicest feeling guitar i found was the Squier Classic Vibe 50's model.
Have any of you got any experience with this guitars? they have a full PineWood body and they sound identical to an american standard tele to be honest. (and it's SO light which i love). so im thinking of getting one of these and maybe a kickass orange rockerverb 50 or something like that. Although i love the sound of the Peavey classic delta blues combo.

Any feedback on your squier classic vibe or any info on one you've played?
Thanks

I've tried one and loved it. I really liked how lightweight it was. I might get myself one for Christmas, and that'll be me for some time to come. For £301 you can't go wrong really to be honest. I didn't compare it to any USA models, in fact I stay away from USA builds, as my budget would never extend to those amounts of money, so what I don't have I don't miss. In fairness I upgraded my original Tele's pickups, with a Seymour Duncan in the bridge. I would go with the Squier though, if I had the lucre now I'd grab one in Butterscotch like a shot. Then you can spend the rest of your cash on an amp, beers and wayward women! ;)

im still fascinated that 2 guys who have been selling and playing guitars for 20 years couldn't tell the difference between the 2.5k nocaster and the classic vibe when blindfolded. very interesitng. i mean they use completely different woods etc, so further making me believe that the woods used in a guitar doesn't make a difference.
those alnico 5's on the butterscotch seem to sound alot nicer than the alnico 3's on the white classic vibe (just in case you didn't know they were different)

Never tried the white, the shop only had the Butterscotch, they certainly let out a roar. I'm a fan of vintage tuners which is a bonus as well. Are you on about the Andertons guys? I watched that a few weeks back. There is a good demo of the Classic Vibe, as well as a CV candy apple red Strat too.

Wow nice vids etc...
Love that one and wanna buy it , it,s even here in France (I live France but I'm Belgian) for sale at a great price.
But... the colours....I don,t wanna offend anyone , I don't like it.
I love the sound , but the white and butterscotch are not my thing. I like rosewood necks (color).
Sunburst or so would be great.
What would you recommend instead ?

Make no mistake, Anderton's doesn't put up objective reviews. Their incentive is to sell. Rob and the Captain won't say a bad thing about any product, but what will make it more desirable. If they say something that could decrease sales, it will end up on the cutting room floor.

Infomercials are highly deceptive by nature. And we hear what we want to hear. Listen, not for the things they say, but for the things that aren't said.

Sure, a Scion can be a better buy than a Toyota, and a Toyota a better buy than a Lexus. You get more per shekel. The law of diminishing returns means that something twice the price won't ever be twice as good. But people are often willing to pay a premium to drive - or play - something that's a little nicer. When you're young and poor, that might not be an option. But for many of us, it is. And that does not mean we're too stupid to know the overall similarities, but that we're willing to pay for small differences that give us an edge.

I can tell you this; in my life of playing for over thirty years Ive owned three other Telecasters.
2 MIM Standards and 1 USA Standard.
(And Ive probably played a dozen others of various origin)
Dont get me wrong there was nothing wrong with any of those instruments they were good guitars.
But the 50's Classic Vibe I have now is the best one.
Its one of the early run ones supposedly Vintage White Blonde but it has looked more regular Blonde from the day I bought it new.
The best way I can explain what it feels and sounds like is what I IMAGINED one would feel like before I ever got my hands on a Tele when I was a kid just sitting there staring at the cover of 'Born To Run'.
And Ive had to pry it out of the hands of more experienced musicians then me who've picked it up .
And at that price point???
So needless to say I recommend you give one a go.
I hear the 60's model is equally good but Ive never played one.

No argument at all with that, but the thing that I found most complimentary about the Squier Classic Vibe 50's was that they (Rob and the Captain) could not differentiate between the higher end Teles and the Clsc Vibe 50's in their blind test. Why would they do that intentionally? Surely they'd be advocating the more expensive models are better if selling was their only objective. :?:

The same reason why McDonald's advertise their dollar menu more than their DeLuxe burgers: volume.

Say you're a store who make $50 profit for each Squier sold and $90 for each Tele.
And you sell two Squiers for each Tele.
Sell 10 Squiers and you make $500. Sell 5 Teles and you make $450.

Then say you estimate you can increase the sale by 20% through infomercials.
If you push the Teles, you now make $540, up $90.
If you push the Squiers, you now make $600, up $100.

That's not considering the sale of accessories. If you leave the customer with more money in their pocket, chances are they'll spend more on accessories too.
Nor considering what they have the biggest inventory of.
