I've played Fenders for decades, but strongly considering getting one of the new Modern Player Telecaster Plus guitars, as it solves two problems: Strat tones in 2 and 4 and it has a humbucker in the bridge for classic rock tunes. Played one the other day and I was very impressed. Pickups were pretty darn good (outside of the H in split mode...) and beefing up the input jack is an easy trick. There is one mod I would have to do that isn't optional and it is trickier.

I hate bezels on pickups, and was thinking that I would have to install a regular Tele bridge with the humbucker cutout. I'm not afraid of filling in holes to make new holes for the plate on the pickguard side, I just wanted to make sure the routing would match up, and that the four holes that the bezel screws use would be covered by the new bridge plate, as the Tele bridge is a lot wider than the strat bridge. Even if it wasn't perfect, I would probably still do it but I haven't found any feedback from anyone who has done the same thing anywhere. Surely I can't be the only person who has thought of this mod.

I would probably swap out individual bridge pieces, as the Mod's have the sheet metal "FENDER" style, which I like, but I really must have a regular Tele bridge in order for the guitar to feel right to my right hand, which normally rests on the bridge while picking. I also think it would simply look better, more "Tele" like.

So has anyone else done this? Will the humbucker line up properly over the routing hole and cover the other holes? I have to imagine someone has done or thought about this mod, even if using the regular single coil bridge, which mounts the same.
