Hi there, just a general question if anyone knows, I purchased a New Baja Tele from Sweetwater 2 months ago and not played it much. I've noticed that when I bend the G and D strings at the 2nd and 3rd frets the strings pop out of the nut! In all the 30 yrs of playing and numerous guitars, I must say I've never had a guitar do this.

I called an authorized Fender repair place to bring in it and was advised "we can definitely do the work for you, but we'll have to see the guitar before we can say if it's covered under the warranty. "

I paid $800 for a guitar that is doing this, is there any reason it would NOT be under warranty?

Thanks,

Skiman1

They stand behind the products that they sell.

http://www.sweetwater.com/about/warranty/

Call them, perhaps they'll just replace it, fix and re-sell as an open box special?

I second that - contact Sweetwater. They're not always the cheapest, but their customer service is best in class.

And no, unless you have put on completely wrong strings or your neck bows like a banana, that should never happen. The Baja should take normal .009-0.011 strings without problem - thicker than that might require some nut adjustment, though.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input, I thought about going the Sweetwater route, but that seems like brain surgery for a toothache. The auth repair place is close to my work and can just bring it in and probably pick up the next day, versus paying for shipping, the long wait etc etc... I will contact my rep and see what he thinks.

Again thanks!

Your Authorized Repair Center cannot take on the repair unless their assured that they'll be reimbursed for the work... that's why you need to bring the instrument in. They'll need to inspect it and then get Fender's authorization to correct it.

It shouldn't happen, so there's little chance they won't get the OK from Fender, but they need to know they'll be paid before taking on the work.

cheers!
