Hi, im really interested in buying a Tele, And I know I wont be disappointed. The problem is choosing between which one I want :P

Here is the list of the ones im looking at. The type of sound im looking for is a Led Zeppelin/Marilyn Manson sort of sound, But I fell in love with the Classic Vibe 50's as soon as I heard it. And also price the cheaper the better :) Thanks

1.Telecaster Affinity Series - http://www.gak.co.uk/en/squier-affinity ... aple/15984

2.Artist Series - (John 5) http://www.gak.co.uk/en/squier-j5-john- ... ster/20836

3.Classic Vibe Series - Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster ‘50s

4.Standard Series - Recommend ?

For a Zep or Manson sound you need to go with the John 5.

Welcome ! :)

Realize that only YOU can choose your Telecaster... there is no one-size-fits-all Tele.

Variations in Woods, Necks, Pickups, Fretboards, Hardware, Finishes are all things you need to consider.

Do you gig or play with others? What Amp do you use (or expect to use)?

You need to get out there and TRY them all, in person. The right one will speak to you.

There are some good Squiers out there, but they are Fender's economy line, so consistency isn't as great between individual instruments as Fender's own brand.

Even between identical Fenders, there will be some which feel/play/sound better, or worse to you, some you will want, some you won't want.

Also, what's your longterm vision, is this a guitar you'll have a long time? Forever?

If so, while I conceed eveyone has the constraints of a budget, it's sometimes a false economy to buy a cheaper instrument. Fender brand instruments often use better woods, better necks, better hardware and better electronics, and while initially more expensive, retain more of their value over time. You are also more likely to keep it longterm.

Just read through this forum and you'll see one thing very common with Squiers. A lot of people say they love them.

Then they will go on to list all the modifications they've made from pups, to pots, bridges, etc. When all added up, often they're paying more than the cost of a Fender to begin with. But my point is that many are not truly that satisfied with a stock Squier out-of-the-box.

Also, be sure to be open to a good used Telecaster. There are many great guitars out there for sale that someone tired of. You can often get a lot of guitar for the money buying used.

I have 2 Telecasters - a '99 MIM heavily modded 'Nashville' Deluxe I got used, and a '12 60th Anniversary FSR Telebration Empress Tele.

To some that might seem redundant, but they have different pickups, different bridges, Rosewood vs. Maple fretboards, 21 vs 22 frets, Modern vs Greasebucket tone circuits, etc. In other words, they are completely different guitars, but are both great guitars and both are Keepers!

So, my advice to you is to try and get a Fender Brand if you can swing it. Look for quality used instruments, but most of all get out there and play TONS of them before you decide. The Journey to discovering Your Telecaster is half the fun !

If you do this, you'll end up with a Telecaster you'll love to play, and love to play for a longtime.

cheers!

Baloney !!

Jimmy Page or Marilyn Manson NEVER played a John 5, so clearly you don't need one.

The OP just needs to go out and play lots and lots of Telecasters until he finds the one he thinks he needs to have !

cheers!

I was under the impression that Marilyn Manson played John 5, and that was why he left?

And for heavier rock like he mentioned, all I can say is humbuckers.

I and others bought the Squire Affinity Tele, butterscotch blonde, and are very happy with them. The wood is maple, maple, and alder. Just like any good guitar. They are good players, good feel. Like most, you might want to change the pickups. Or not. Check them all out. Have fun. :D
