I just found this sitting in the beaten body of a 1985 MIJ '62 Reissue Telecaster. I would like to restore the guitar and have heard that Fender was using Japanese pickups in all the old MIJ stuff from the 80s. They weren't as good as the Texas Specials that were later used in the 90s but it would keep to the originality. This pickup has a serial number stamped on the back that says "SD 2 87." It also has a sticker that says 1R on it as can be referenced by the photos below. What guitar is this pickup from? It has the correct cloth wires on it. Please help.

Seymour Duncan pickups use codes like that.

What's with that loose wire? Is it broken?

Francis.

If it's a girl, Francis.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Wow, that makes a lot of sense. I don't know why I didn't spot that in the first place. SD probably means Seymour Duncan. In that case I'm not going to spend money to rewire it. Thanks.
