I had been wanting a vintage style Tele so I went to my local GC and picked up the '52 reissue. I had compared it to the Vintage Hotrod, and the Hotrod was a nicer playing/feeling guitar. Unfortunately at the time I couldn't afford it, so I took the '52 reissue. I thought all it needed was a good setup, but I couldn't get the action to my liking. All the while i kept thinking about the Hotrod. So I went to GC this morning just to check out the Memorial Day sale and maybe buy some strings and picks. Well, the Vintage Hotrod was still there and had been REALLY discounted. Thanks to GC's no hassle exchange policy I am now the proud owner of a new Vintage Hotrod Telcaster. :D

Congrats. I hope to be a Vintage Hot Telecaster soon myself. How are you liking it so far?

Thanks :D So far the guitar is amazing. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who is seriously considering a vintage style Tele.

Like yourself I have also spent time with the 52 Vintage telecaster but was left wanting something more. The Vintage Hot Rod seems like everything a player could want in a Tele. I went to a Samash where I tried a 50s classic, a Baja, a highway 1, a american deluxe, and the 52 Hot rod. The hot rod stood out. While the other were great sounding and feeling guitars the hot rod just felt special.

I'm in the process of putting together my own version of the Hot Rod. I wasn't sure what Fender used for their bridge pickup, so I grabbed a Vintage Stack from Seymour Duncan to go with the Custom Mini bucker I bought for the neck pickup. I'll definitely throw up some shots when I finally put it back together.
