I have seen many varying descriptions concerning the various versions of the Cab. Is there any non Custom Shop cab that has 21 frets? One the Fender site it says 21 frets in the description but 22 in the specs of the MIM Cabs. The photos show 22 frets. Were there initially any early run or special runs with 21 frets?
thanks
anthony

The only non-CS models I've seen have 22 frets. Is there a reason why you only want 21 frets? That extra fret comes in handy when playing in the upper register, IMO.

I will not own an electric guitar without 22 frets, at least. It's gonna cost me.

I don't use the upper register and I am so used to 21 frets, that 22 look wrong to my eye. But I think the thinline Cab will be mine in Shoreline Gold as it is a lot of guitar for not a lot of $$$$. If I really want to, I can upgrade to TV Jones at a later stage.

I have both 21- and 22-fret teles, and I can't say I've ever had a use for the extra fret. You can still play the top notes fretless. I kind of prefer that, as intonation is never going to be perfect that high up.

That said, I also am one of probably few people who prefer the smaller and sharper angled vintage frets over the modern jumbo frets. Especially for the top frets, where your fingers grow big.
