My MIJ Tele has a sick pot. In fact, its dead. I want to make sure my awesome round top, knurled knob fits over the shaft of the new, replacement pot. What would be the correct diameter of the shaft? Are we talkiin' ASE or mm's? The Tele is a 90's model that I bought in a Whittier, CA music store after someone dropped it and put a chip in the back, round edge of the body. Its the only guitar I have hung onto all these yrs.
Odd, because it has spent most of its life in a case under the bed.
I thought I wasnt a Tele guy until I replaced the pickups with an SD 1/4 pounder, and its counterpart in the neck. The guitar totally came to life. Thank you Seymour.
I thought I'd get the pots from Amazon, unless you know better. Thanks in advance.

The diameter of the pot post is pretty standard.

The pots at the GC were different. The shafts were larger. That was all they had.
'That cat Shaft is a bad mofo'. Home Depot doesnt have cheap micrometer or what have you, so, I think I'll try GFS. They'll know.
Thanks anywayz.

That is odd. I've purchased pots from the there all the time. If you can order online, order genuine Fender parts. They are a little more expensive (a bout $1-2 more), but they are worth it.

You can also order through online companies such as Stewmac

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... eters.html

You should be able to purchase or order from your local music store.

Well, the social outcast, scraggly hippy I was dealing with at the local GC seemed to be focussed on increasing his levels of detachment, rather than my parts search. I will be by another GC this PM. Will try there. I know of Stewmac, maybe I'll give 'em a shot.

Thanks, Paris.

I get most of my parts like that from here (GPR):

Good luck!

Fender pots are CTS pots that are rack packaged. CTS pots are fine. Fender pots often come with a tone cap included, which you probably don't need. Just make sure to order correct value and shaft type.
