Wierd question but here it goes. I have a am stand strat, am stand tele and a black top jag. I love playing the jag and tele but I don't really play the strat. I like palm muting a lot and its not easy or does not sound as good on the strat. Here is my dilema, I don't play the strat or dont enjoy it as much but its Olympic white and is beautiful. I'm thinking about selling it to buy or trading it on on a mustang or another tele or a real jag. I just don't want to kick myself for selling my 2010 am standard strat. Has anybidy do t it and regretted it? Am I crazy for considering?

As you posted this in a tele forum, I could guess what the likely response will be. I like both strats and teles, but the strat speaks to me more. I recently let a Guitar Center FSR Silverburst MIM tele get away and I would love to have another one. In fact, it pains me to see the matching floor model in the Boss pedal demo area at my local GC. However, my American Standard Strat is my "ultimate" guitar. It all boils down to this: you have to do what is right for you. If the tele and jag speak to you more, then it sounds like a new tele or jag is in your future.

A 2010 Strat is a simple guitar to replace.......Once you realise you've sold the wrong guitar just buy another one.... 8)

Keep the Strat , you 'll use it someday and you will be happy to keep it . I have many guitars and I never sold one even if i do not use some since many moths or year . I'm sure I'll come back to them .

It sounds like you have trouble palm muting the Strat. Flatten the floating bridge and that problem may go away. Keep the Strat. I have lots of guitars, and they all get used for one reason or another.

On the other hand I got rid of all my Gibsons because I didn't use them. I bought a PRS instead and use it all the time.

I'd still keep the Strat, and just add to the collection. By the way, what made you buy it in the 1st place?

I have a nice little collection of guitars and the one that I could never part with is my semi modded 1990 American Strat Plus. ( I added the Clapton 25db mid boost ) The ONLY thing that would make it better is if it was White, :D .

But everyone is different. I recently picked up a MiM Tele, that I doubt will ever leave my hands either. Sure hope my grandson becomes a guitar player!

On the other hand I couldn't wait to give my 1976 Les Paul custom back to my other brother. Man that thing sounds great but after 20 minutes all I want to do is get a neck massage!

I own a lot of guitars (70 + or -) from lots of different makers, including a number of both Strats and Telecasters. Since I started playing in 1963 I have sold only a handful of my guitars and I can honestly say, I wish I hadn't sold a single one of them. Right now I'm trying to track down a decent Takamine solid body electric like one I sold in 2000, didn't have a clue how rare it was. I still kick myself, 13 years later. :?

I had an '87 Strat Plus I parted with and I'm still trying to track it down. My first and one the best Strats I ever owned.

Thank you to everybody for your responses. I purchased the strat because when I saw it hanging in the store, all white with a rosewood board ,it struck me. It is high quality as all am standards seem to be. I think the Tele suits me better but two things I know now for sure. A) I'm going to flatten the term and try it. B) I'm keeping it. You are right, I have sold guitars and have always regretted it. Wake up call! :D

Yes, I have always loved that look! This is a Strat loaded with Kent Armstrong Tweedtone pickups that I bought at the local Music-Go-Round before it closed its doors forever. It called to me and I heard it. 8)
