No that's not right either because your black one is a Standard. I can't tell if your 2 color burst is a Standard or a Deluxe. OK now I'm kunfoozed.

Well, I once had an American Deluxe Telecaster Plus, 1989 model. About 13 years ago (give or take a year) when the FDP was still in it's infancy on the original eesite I got a model spec printout from Mike Eldred based on my serial number. It was definitely called American Deluxe Telecaster Plus and the spec said they all came with a trem, roller nut and locking tuners. Since yours is American but without the trem I figured it must be a Standard. Quite honestly I've never seen an AD Tele Plus without the trem, etc. until now. That was several computers ago so I don't know if I still have the spec readout but I'll look.

Far as i can tell its a semantics issue

From my knowledge all Telecaster Plus are USA made therefore I never use the American part to describe the model.

But to be pedantic it would be American Telecaster Plus
or American Telecaster Plus Deluxe.

The Plus has a hardtail Strat bridge, normal nut, and standard USA tuners.
The Plus Deluxe has a Strat 2 point trem, roller nut and locking tuning machines.

Of my 3, the Natural is a Plus
The red transparent sparkle is a Plus Deluxe
The three colour sunburst is a Plus Deluxe

Introducing the word standard doesnt really help to discriminate between the models.

Hope that helps.

You guys are killing me with these Teles. Just tried to make an offer to a guy on CL for a natural but he would not budge from $1,900. I really want one to go with my Strat Ultra. I still cant understand how I never even knew about this model till a little over a year ago.

You might think that 91 Tele would have brought a little more. BTW my friend just got an orginal 72 natural Thinline Tele really cool.

I have a Tele Plus, similar to the pic posted by Chromeface, although mine is a sunburst. It is without a doubt one of the best finished and fitting Teles I have had. I used the Lace sensors for several years, then replaced with SD Nashville 5/2 in neck/bridge, and Harmonic Design Vintage in mid. It sounds outstanding with this combo, and I retained the original Lace's if I need to go back.

I just bought a 97 telecaster plus V2 with 3 single coils. One interesting thing I've noticed but not read about is that the frets seem to be golden in color. Some of the higher end frets are wearing down to stainless or silver. Anyone know what sort of frets came standard on these? Anyone else have golden/copper colored frets? This is a starburst like the other ones shown above.
