I once owned a '93 Tele Plus in natural finish. It had a Blue Lace Sensor at the neck and a Dual Red at the bridge and coil split circuitry. It was an awesome, b---s to the wall rock guitar...not a country sounder. I loved it, but not enough not to trade it towards a mint used generation I "EC" Strat.

The Tele was in beautiful condition with the exception of a small cigarette burn on the back. I know it was sold quickly. It wasn't in the store a week after I traded it. I would sure like to know that someone out there is caring for it, and having a great time making music with it.

That guitar was a rare bird. I don't know that Fender has done better yet.

I still have my 93 Tele Plus with a red/black paint job. I do have a cigarette burn by the low-e tuner but it just added to the look.

Like you I got rid of guitars but I did keep this one. Wish I would have kept my EC strat though...

Sounds like the real deal Doc, don't you just hate it when you let a beauty get away. I've been kicking myself for letting a few nice guitars go, such is life I guess.

Roger that Snowy. You, Lance and I, and countless others.....members of the 'you won't be satisfied"club. I don't find Tele's particlularly comfortable to play, and that Stratocaster it went up for was too good to turn down, but that Plus was unique as far as the electronics and the neck were concerned. I've no doubt it is kicking butt somewhere out there.

I bought a natural Tele Plus new in '93 as well, but I did keep it. I put the Lace sensors in a different guitar, may I should piece it back together after reading this thread...

It does weigh a *ton*, though. Quite a plank of ash on that one.

It is totally worth the back pain. I bought a 92 MkI and it is still the greatest guitar ive ever played.

Doc never figured you for a Tele.lol I am the opposite and find a Tele more comfortable to play. I guess because I used one so long and prefer the volume/tone configuration over that of a Strats volume knob being right next to the bridge. Miami Mike posted a video of the late great Danny Gatton playing a Strat and he totally removed the volume knob and pot which sent bells and whistles off in my head as I never thought to do that. But it sure would give that Tele comfort.

I think if you could do it over you would have the Tele Plus back Doc as the Clapton model you got is easier to find than a Tele Plus. I never even knew they made one till I read about it on Xhefri's site a year ago and have been really trying to find one that is pretty clean but the ones I have seen for sale have all been moded. But I hear what a great sounding ax it is and you just solidified it for me.

What's with the regular nut on the natural ash one?
Never seen one without the Wilkinson over-under roller nut.
Swapped neck?

My natural Tele Plus has a regular nut, not a roller nut

Hi

The telecaster plus without the tremolo come with a normal nut.
Both my other ones have tremolo so have the roller nut

the natural one is the pick of the bunch for me, it was also the first one.
the guitar is 100% all original.

Huh. So I guess the American Standard had no trem, roller nut or locking Tuners but the American Deluxe did. They say you learn something new every day.
