Hi all,

I have a 1990 American Strat Plus which I love to death, but I would like to add a real twang machine to my tool kit.

I have a line on a silver & black FSR tele with maple neck for around $300 with a hard shell case and was wondering if anyone knew anything about this guitar. I am not in a position right now to spend the coin for another American made Fender, but I will pass on this one if it is a dog and just save for an American made one if there is that much of a difference.

Help ? ? ? ?

Thanks,
-Harry

without seeing it, more than likely a MIM std tele with the FSR paintjob. the paintjob and hardcase will probably make it worth a little more than a comparable 'normal' MIM tele. not knowing US prices, that's something you need to decide. I would assume even the case would cost you $60-100, no ?

I assume you cant play it before hand ?

it will very unlikely be 'a dog', but of course the electrics will be the big difference between this and a US made one. that's only a call you and your ears can make. even so, you could probably drop US std guts into it and have all the sounds of a US tele with the funky silverburst finish and a hardcase.

I have one of theses. Mine carries a 2011 serial number. I believe they have been issued on a couple of occasions. Here are a couple of photos of mine and the spec sheet
The control plate is reversed. They were issued along side a copperburst model that had a three brass saddle bridge

That's the fiddle, I have made an offer and am waiting to see if the guy will accept it or not. Love the color, matches my truck perfectly, 8) .

I have always wanted a Tele, but never had the opportunity to add one at a reasonable price.

I appreciate the feedback,
Harry

The pictured guitar has a spaghetti-style logo on the head and doesn't reflect the aforementioned feature listed below.

Yeah your right about the logo not the first time a spec sheet difers from the actual guitar.

Suppose thats what "NOTICE: Product Prices, Features, Specifications and Availability Are Subject To change Without Notice." we see on some spec sheets means :)

A matching MIM Strat in this colour also existed, different specs and features-wise than the actual Modern Player model.

They also did an American Standard version as well:

Congrats on a great purchase. I had one of these for about a year, but unfortunately had to let it go. I would love to pick up another one.

Well she showed up today, perfect fiddle not a mark on her. The case is a Fender, but it has seen better day ( great business opportunity, restoring Fender cases ).

It is amazing, I have been playing my American Strat Plus since 1990, and this bad boy felt perfect in my hands. However as soon as I plugged her in ( Fender Super Champ X2 ) I played completely differently. I loved it, was like discovering playing all over again.

I have had a few guitars that I bonded with and others which just didn't do it, but this is as right as rain.

I will post up some pics soon,
-Harry

Congrats! I knew you would love it. The last time I checked, the one at my local GC had been relegated to the Boss pedal demo area. GRRR!!!

I have been trying to the finish a 2x12 cabinet I was building for my Super Champ X2 which has really kept me busy. Here is a picture of my Fender arsenal.

The flash was a bit bright, but I think you get the idea.

My daughter and her puppy go back to school next week so I will try to get some sound clips.
