Hey, what's up? Concerning Andy Summers Tele, from what I understand there was a problem with one that he played at the very first Police reunion shows and he hasn't gone back to it. I hear he has been playing a red Strat for the entire tour and is under a contract to do so.

That Tele in Frontline-in home has the relic look. I like to relic them myself, the old fashioned way. 8)

Andy reliced his the old fashion way! My buddy saw him Friday at Hershey PA and it seems that the feuding has already begun. Andy threw what ever he was playing off stage at one point. I mean really threw it in what my buddy called a fit of rage. I guess Sting said something. At least they are not fighting fist to fist like Oasis.

According to the article in Guitar Player he is using one of the tribute telecasters since the original is too old to take on tour. I saw him use it in philly last week. Sounded great. The red strat was incredible too. Hell, they all sounded great.

Fictionplane? Oof! Sorry but they might have *sounded* like The Police, but their song writing leaves much to be desired. The subjects of their songs were too complicated, or too silly, or too profane. I'm surprised they got the gig. It would be like having Oasis open for The Beatles. Although very popular, Oasis' music is quite derivative of much better song writers. And I'm not saying that Fictionplane's song writing is equal or better than Oasis. I also thought that the singers voice was good, but lacked the dynamics of his obvious idol, Sting. Sting uses so much more range when he sings. The singer for Fictionplane just seemed to stuck on Roxanne for their entire set. It would be interesting to hear them once they've found their own identity.

i definintly agree about finding an identity of their own. it did appear they borrowed alot of not only police sounds, but instrument arrangement and theatrics. however i did like the guitar player. also i heard the bass player/singer was stings son. which would explain why he is trying to emulate the success recipe of the police

Joe Sumner. Well that explains a lot. But seriously, even the Wall Flowers don't sound anything like Bob Dylan.

The red strat is a VG, his original Tele is in the attic at home and he is using number 1 of the re-issues.

I've been following the Police for years and I saw them in NY in August. Great show. Andy really stole the show. They looked like they were having a really good time playing together.

By the way I found out that the red Stat is a replica of his old red one. See the following article:

http://www.guitarplayer.com/article/har ... n-07/27814

Andy did play the cloned Tele for about one or two songs. I didn't see him use the VG Strat at for the NY show.

"Wrapped Around Your Finger." was the best song that they did.

Yes; the lead singer for Frictionplane is Sting's son.

They sounded ok. The sound quality was pretty bad. I've listened to one of their albums and I wasn't all that impressed. I give them a 5 out of 10.
