Good morning fellow forum members. I bought this Squier Affinity Butterscotch model brand new, at Guitar Center a couple of months ago. While it's a great guitar all stock , I felt there were some improvements that it could use. For instance, the stock bridge design with the 6 saddles, definitely made restringing very difficult seeing that it's a top load bridge, so I got rid of that and installed a new , Gold colored , all steel top load bridge, which has the more , effective, 3 barrel saddles , which makes this guitar a lot easier to restring and besides , it not only looks more retro but sounds better with these saddles as well. Plus I installed some Copper shielding tape in both the pickup and the control cavities. Then I put in a Duncan Designed TE-101B bridge pickup which I had to install using the out of phase method. It also has a new Fender " F " logo neck plate along with a 1950's Fender Spaghetti logo on the headstock . I just got in some Gold colored Telecaster control knobs and am waiting for my new Gold colored Tele Control plate. The Duncan pup is what Squier uses on their Vintage Modified Teles and it sounds great.

Geez, here you go again, trying to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse by removing the correct Squier logo from the headstock and putting on a FAKE Fender waterslide and then bragging about it. What the heck is with that? You bought a Squier and it will always be a Squier, at least until you sell it to some poor schmuck as a Fender.

And then you come on here to tell everyone about it? Not counting the 26 times you already mentioned it in other posts, of course.

Just so this doesn't "disappear" and leave me holding the thread...

I don't know what I've ever done to you personally but if you don't like what I post, then don't bother reading them. It's that simple, okay ? Nobody's twisting your arm, and by the way, I have no intention of selling this guitar . You don't know me and I don't know you, so mind your own business.

I've noticed in the Tele and Strat and sometimes even in the Squier forums, that one of the most frequently asked questions, especially by new Forum posters, is the old Is My Fender Real or Fake? Well, guys like you are a big part of the reason that they are asking.

When you left this Forum last time (a year ago + or -) you said you were selling all of your Fender guitars, one of which was another Squier that you also put a fake waterslide Fender decal on. You mentioned the fake decal in several posts, much like this guitar in this thread, and said when you first introduced that guitar that you were never selling it either. You said you sold it and I believed you.

The thing is, if you are so incredibly proud of having bought a Squier Affinity Tele, if you mention repeatedly that you have been playing guitar for 40 years and this is one of The Best Guitars you have ever owned or played, what makes you want to hide the fact that it's a Squier? That's what I don't get.

What you are doing with that Fender waterslide decal is fraudulent. At 54 years of age, I would think you would know better and try to set a better example for all the younger players who visit these Forums.

Or at least not come onto a Fender Forum and brag about it.

If you ever sell this guitar some poor kid will spend spend his $$$ thinking he's getting a Fender. It's fine to make changes to your guitar but not to put a fake Fender logo on the headstock. If it is not illegal, it should be!! :x

I had sold my Fender Guitars last year because at the time, my wife and I were in the process of having a foster child moving in with us, who is now undergoing the adoption process. He is a now, 9 year old boy who finally moved in with us last December . The reason why I did the total reconstruction of the affinity tele w/ the Fender headstock decal is that , my soon to be son has expressed a interest in wanting to play guitar and I have been teaching him. This is my gift to him . I have a mortgage to pay every month and right now can not afford to buy a real Fender , so this is why I did the mods plus the name change . This is now his guitar plus a Fender Mustang II V2 Combo amp which I bought for him .

This is a photo of him and me from last year's Christmas . My son's name is Eddie and he moved in with us on December 19th and was the best X-Mas present my wife and I could ever get. He's a great kid who loves playing guitar and his Comic books as well. He wants to be a Comic Book artist like me. The adoption should be final come this August .

Well, let's see. I have a nice fat mortgage payment every month, too, and I am currently (unfortunately) unemployed. And I'll bet that most of the guys on this Forum have mortgage or rent payments every month just like us. And, dang, it would sure be nice to sell a few of my guitars to cover that monthly nut, but I sure don't want to sell my REAL Fenders, so I think I'll take my Squiers (yes, I own several) and take off those crappy Squier decals and throw on Fender decals and then I'll throw them all on Craigslist and see who bites.

You're adopting a 9-year-old boy who thinks he wants to play guitar. That's great. You couldn't afford to buy him a "real" Fender, so you bought a bottom-rung Squier, did a little hocus-pocus and bingo - now it's a Fender. Why would your 9-year-old care a whit about it being a Squier? You have to admit, in the umpteen posts you made about this guitar and the transitions you were putting it through, you never talked about anyone playing it but YOU!

Here's the bottom line: You brought a little boy into your home and committed fraud on a cheap guitar so he could, allegedly feel better because he was playing a Fender. Like he could possibly know or tell the difference. I have an 11-year-old grandson who is learning to play guitar. I've given him two guitars and three amps, but I have not given him a Fender. He loves the guitars I have given him and he couldn't care less what they are.

Since this is another Squier that you have perpetrated the same fraudulent act on, I think it is YOU who has to have the Fender name on the headstock. You need to quit making excuses and stop acting like fake Fender decals are a good thing. What you have done is no way to set an example for an impressionable child.

One more thing, excuses aside - you've got your 20-year service pension coming in every month, you're a third-level blackbelt, you must have some marketable skills, so why not get a part-time job, take that $180 you spent on that Squier Affinity, save another $100 and get a nice used, REAL Fender that says Fender on the headstock? Just a thought.
