I really like the features of the American Vintage '58 Telecaster but I would prefer a 9.5" radius fingerboard and 6105 frets. Are there any other Telecasters in the Fender line that have an ash body, white blonde finish, and vintage bridge but come with the flatter board and larger frets?

I've considered Custom Shop too but I don't see anything similar in the current offerings. I haven't seen a vendor special order that is similar either.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Alder bodies are my preference for Telecasters.
Everything else is what you asked for.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks for the pointer to the American Special. I'll try to find one locally to check it out.

Side note:
You didn't specify vintage style pickups.
This guitar has Texas Specials.

Just a heads up.

I've just located a Vintage Blonde American Special Telecaster in a shop not too far from work. I'll try to head over tomorrow to check it out.

I'm curious what separates the American Special line from the American Standard or the MIM Standard. Is it American parts assembled in Mexico, or Mexican parts assembled in US? What gives?

I've got a Strat with Texas Specials in it so if I like the Am Special Tele I may consider swapping pickups if the tone is too similar.

Thanks again for the info.

I've got an Americal Special Tele. It's a good guitar and I'm very happy with it. It does not sound like a Strat, even one with Texas Special pickups.

The fit, finish and electronics on the American Vintage Tele are different, better than the Am Spec. The American Vintage Tele is a fine guitar. All things being equal I would choose it above the Am Spec. But it is not worth the significant difference in price, in my opinion.
