Hi Matt,

So..... Strat or Tele eh????

Let the flame war commence!!!....

I think you'll find the majority of guys(and gals!) on here own both for this very argument..
And whats right for you, is something that you'll have to find out for yourself
(play them both !!!! ....and play as many as you can get you hands on!!!), there are so many factors to consider.
- What style of music that you are playing?
- What players do you admire?..... and what is their guitar of choice?.
Etc.....

but hey i'll jump right in there......

If I could have only one.....
Telecaster please. :)

I bought a very low price butterscotch affinity tele a few years ago and it has been great. A pickup change is all it needed for me. (Only the bridge. I broke the neck. ) Have fun. :D

I am a tele guy. No doubt about it. But starting to play, wich is probably the case, I'd say the comfort of the strat is a plus specially if you sit a lot when you practice, with time you'll see what fit best for you, and you will never regret to have a Strat in your arsenal.. But again it's a personnal thing, try them both standing AND sitting, you'll see waht is the best, FOR YOU!!

I really like natural neck on Affinity Tele. I've owned USA Fenders and still think the Affinity neck is one of the nicest. It's very smooth and feels like bare wood, not in a Gibson way where they don't add grain filler though.

The Tele is a good choice. You will get the need to customize and you will have a good base to start...For Now :D

Welcome to the forums. If you scroll down a bit, you'll find a whole section devoted solely to Squier guitars.

I've been playing for 40 years ( I'm pushing 54 ) and I just bought the Butterscotch Affinity Telecaster a few weeks ago. It's one of the best guitars I've ever come across in all of the time I've been playing. Definitely worth the $180.00 price tag and then some.
